History
Roses of Dawn was founded in August 2000 as a Diablo 2 guild for "legitimate play" - that is, to play the game as it was designed to be played, without the duping, exploits and random PK-ing that were rife at the time. In 2001 Roses joined the United Legitimate Guilds of Diablo, an alliance of like-minded guilds with whom we could enjoy cheat-free play. We had fun with the new content in the Lord of Destruction expansion, but when endless cow runs began to get dull, we branched out into playing Starcraft and Starcraft Brood War as well as Diablo 2. At Easter in 2001 we had our first real life meet/LAN party, with players from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK.
In the new year of 2002, a substantial number or Roses members started playing in the European beta of Dark Age of Camelot, persuaded by a couple of guildies who had been playing on the US servers. We moved en masse to the Hibernia realm on the Prydwen server on day 1 of the European release, and DAoC soon became the centre of the guild's activities. Many of the guild moved to Star Wars:Galaxies in 2004, along with other friends from Hib/Pryd, forming the guild Dark Aegis, but Roses still maintains a small presence in DAoC.
The long awaited World of Warcraft European beta came out at the end of 2004 and Roses re-united from DAoC, SW:G, EQ and other far-flung corners of the gaming world to see if it would live up to expectations. It did, so Roses of Dawn was created on the Thunderhorn server on day 1 of the European release. Due to our efficient and organised start, Roses was one of the top guilds on the server for a few months, winning the individual tabard for the first PvP competition and leading the way on level 60 instances. After a while, the more serious raiding guilds took over the lead and Roses continued as the social guild it has always been. We now do some high end raiding with an alliance of other social guilds know as Honourbound.
